The PoPieronie String Quartet was founded in 2009 in Żywiec. It consists of four talented and experienced musicians who, through their heritage and shared artistic experiences, have built a lasting friendship and musical collaboration. Their mission is to continue and promote the traditional highlander music of the Żywiec region, successfully blending their individual passions and creative inspirations.
Over fifteen years, the PoPieronie quartet has garnered a significant following in Poland and beyond. They have achieved numerous successes at prestigious folk and traditional music festivals, including:
– Second place at the XXVI edition of the International Folk Music Festival „Mikołajki Folkowe” in Lublin, 2016;
– Third place for the album „Wierni korzeniom” in the „Folkowy Fonogram Dwójki” competition of Polish Radio – Channel II, 2014;
– Distinction and third place in the II and III editions of the „Turniej Muzyków Prawdziwych” Festival in Szczecin in 2016 and 2017, respectively, as well as the Audience Award in 2020;
– Participation in the finals of the Polish Radio Folk Festival „Nowa Tradycja” in Warsaw, 2016.
